I totally agree with you engine5 about the attitudes. I don't think you will ever get away from it. There is always 1 bad apple in the bunch. We could only hope for the best.

There is one thing i cant understand through reading all the posts and being in a fire company in MCFD for 3 years. I am a junior at the citz. what i dont understand is what is so bad that separates us from each other. last time i checked we all are humans, all eat, sleep, s***, we do everything the same. the only thing we do differently is we all have our own unique talents, whether its truck work, rescue, tanker, or hose line. but why all the arguing and differences. i dont know when it started or what happened but i just dont see why people cant just swallow their pride and march as one department. We have an MCFD website now lets start acting like a department. the Mahanoy City Fire Department.

It's been approximately 6 months since this topic first appeared. Having re-read all of the posts, I have to wonder; are we any closer to actually acting like a department? No need to air any dirty laundry but any of us who commented on this topic should take the time to read everything that was posted and decide for themselves.

As a fairly new member of the MCFD, I have some suggestions about this department. Yeah, it would be great to march as a WHOLE department but for some reason, we all don't get along. Everybody's ego is so big their heads are ready to explode, and I'm not talking about one person, I'm talking about everyone. It's not about who has the best looking engine or who gets to the scene first, its about doing a job the right way and protecting our community. We act like a bunch of old ladies on bingo night. We have to teach our young members about the right traditions, not the ones where you tell bad stories about other stations on how we dont like each other. What are we in 2nd grade here? We are supposed to be grown, mature men who should set an example for the future of this department, if not, its going to keep getting worse and there wont be much of a department left. So we need to act now and put all of that nonsense behind us for the future of us.
