Our first RIT call since the re-organization meeting. * 25 personnel on-scene. * 4 crews of 5 . * 1 crew strictly support, Officers and Accountability. * 1 crew re-directed to assist in over-haul and we still had enough to maintain a decent sized RIT team. * Talking to a few people from each station, it was agreed things went much smoother than in the past. * We are missing ONE (1) Blue RIT tag from the Rescue (yellow tag found) and a pick-head axe from Eng. 451. If found, please return them. Anything else missing?
Your thoughts?
Post-incident incident: Engine 49-10 caught fire while returning to McAdoo station. Hazleton city engine dispatched to extinguish - fire contained to the engine compartment. Yes, this is the 3 month old engine. I spoke with a McAdoo Asst. Chief, he stated a hydraulic line and some sort of power line rubbed together which sparked the fire.

I have to agree. That's the 1st RIT call I ran in quite a while and it was a world of difference. It was nice that both pieces arrived together, all the manpower together and then split up and went to work. If we're going to have that many guys for RIT Capt453 better spring for some more SCOTTs. (Just kidding Billy). By the way, thanks for the medication mission last nite(I'll remember that one.....HaHa.) Seriously, Billy did a great job, everyone worked together and we all came home safe.

Just to update. The structure fire in W. Hazleton was ruled arson and an arrest was made.
Some 19 yo female resident of one of the homes reportedly admitted to setting the fire.
And, McAdoo's new engine that caught fire while returning to station was confined to the engine/battery compartment area. Minimal damage caused, by what I'm hearing, battery cables rubbing against something.
KME took the engine back to the plant and started repairs as early as Sunday morning. They also provided McAdoo with a replacement engine until repairs were made to the new one.
Not sure, but I believe the new engine is already back in their station and back in service.
